About the Breed
This is an Australian manufactured breed much resembling a miniature Alsatian and evolved recently from Collies and the Dingo, with Kelpie or possibly Dalmatian blood. The breed works silently and is used exclusively for cattle droving. It is highly valued on the cattle stations. Within recent years, however, the breed has been an attraction on the show benches of Australia, where the public take a keener interest in the pastoral races than in other countries.
Height 20 in (50.5 cm), bitches 19 in (48 cm)
Weight 35 lb (15.9 kg), bitches 32 lb (14.5 kg)
Coat type/ colour Coat short and harsh, weather-resisting. Colour blue-speckled or red-speckled; these flicks show the Dalmatian blood, as do the black head patches. Head long, and fairly narrow; ears set high and erect; back short; legs fairly long with compact feet; tail long and carried low, although horizontal when the dog is excited.
