About the Breed
This breed is almost a miniature replica of the Greyhound
in its satin-skinned grace and lines. It has been in England
from at least the Tudor and Stuart periods. A painting of
Queen Anne, wife of James I, now in Hampton Court Palace shows
several of this breed. The Italian Greyhound has a characteristic
gait entirely its own, not unlike the high-stepping and elegant
prance of a prize Hackney pony.

Weight 6-8 lb (2.7-3.6 kg)
Coat type/colour Coat short, thin and lustrous. Colour fawn,
blue, slate, black-and-fawn, cream and white. Head long, flat
and narrow with a fine muzzle; ears rose-shaped; eyes rather
large; body racy and tucked-up; legs have very fine bone and
a free step; tail set low, long, fine and tapering to a point
at the hocks.
