About the Breed
The dates 1870 and 1880 are those most often quoted when referring
to the origin of the Norwich Terrier, but dogs of this type
existed long before then, although not called by their present
name. The breed is descended from some small Irish Terriers
used in Norfolk for fox and badger working, probably crossed
with other British hunting Terriers, and bred to a size not
exceeding about 12 in. Not widely known, the Norwich was not
recognised here until 1932,when the breed Club was formed,
and neither was it accepted as a pure breed in America until
1936, when the American Kennel Club gave it official status.
It is a gay and friendly little dog, deserving popularity.

Weight 11-13 lb (5-5.9 kg)
Coat type/colour Coat as hard and wiry as possible, quite
straight, and close-lying. Colour red, black-and-tan, red-and-grizzle
and grizzle-and-tan. Ears erect. Tail docked.
