About the Breed
Of all the breeds to come from the Welsh Principality the
Sealyham is generally the most popular. Although not created
until the year 1851, when Capt. John Tucker-Edwardes of Sealyham
(a village near Haverfordwest) designed the breed especially
for badger-baiting, the Sealyham has forged ahead of many
other breeds of older history. At Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire,
the first Sealyhams were shown, but the large arenas of the
Kennel Club’s event of 1910 was really the starting
point for the breed. Though now usually bred for companionship,
the Sealyham is a very useful sporting terrier when required.
In the U.S.A. the Sealyham Terrier is tremendously popular.

Coat type/colour Coat long, hard and wiry. Colour white entirely
or with lemon, brown or badger pied markings on head and ears.
