About the Breed
The exact origin of this Irish breed is not known, but wheaten-coloured
Terriers of soft coats have existed in Ireland for a considerable
time. Certainly the type of this little known breed has not
changed for at least 80 years, and, being fixed by the Standard
of Points now drawn up by the breed Club, will remain unchanged.
In Eire no dog can qualify for championship honours without
a working certificate. In England the breed has a small but
staunch band of supporters. These dogs are loyal and sporting
terriers, unspoilt n any way.
Height about 17 in (43 cm)
Weight 35 lb (15.9 kg), bitches 32 lb (14.5 kg)
Coat type/colour Coat abundant and soft, wavy or with large
loose curls. Colour good clear wheaten; a few white hairs
on the chest penalise, but do not disqualify.
