About the Caspian Breed .A breed of small pony approximately 11 to
12 hands, found in a limited area between the forested northern
slopes of the Elburz Mountains and the Persian Caspian shores
in Northern Iran. It is unique for its minute size and for its
fine strong bone and shape. It has an Arab head with large well-placed
eyes, short alert ears, strongly marked jaw and large low nostrils.
It has well-sprung ribs, tail set high and well carried, and
the hair of both mane and tail fine and silky. Of a generous
and gentle disposition, these ponies remain apart from the other
various breeds in the area.
